About Dr. Kwaku
Hans Kwaku, MD, MPH, FACP, has more than two decades of experience and currently works at PrimeCare Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He specializes in adolescent medicine and internal medicine. As a general internist, he focuses on diabetes and research. He is affiliated with Carolinas Medical Center and Carolinas Medical Center – Mercy, both in Charlotte.
Born in Ghana, Dr. Kwaku earned his medical doctorate from the University of Ghana School of Medicine and Dentistry in Accra. He completed his medical residency at Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the Harlem Hospital Center in New York. Dr. Kwaku later moved to Washington, DC, and enrolled in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences of The George Washington University. He earned his master’s degree in public health with a special interest in epidemiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Kwaku lives in Charlotte and is married to Dr. Mala Freeman-Kwaku, OB/GYN, and has three children. In his free time, he enjoys listening to gospel music, reading, and playing tennis.
